… like an automobile, you must maintain your investment. Use a mild detergent to clean your all weather furniture, and a coat of wax will also work wonders.

How to Maintain Your All Weather Furniture

For as long as I can remember I’ve been drawn to my back yard. I love to have a nice area where I can relax, entertain guests and just enjoy life with my family. I have a beautiful set of all weather wicker with deep comfy cushions that are the highlight of my patio. We also own a cast aluminum dining table and chairs for entertaining. These pieces are so beautiful and comfortable and will last for years if they are properly maintained, so I found out from the experts how best to do that. My friends at Covent Garden Furniture gave me some great tips on care and maintenance of all weather furniture that I wanted to share with you.

The first thing they taught me is that you must maintain your furniture similar to the way you would your car body — start off with a good cleaning, and wax your aluminum frames to protect them from damaging pollutants that, when baked in the sun on a daily basis, will damage the furniture.

The worst offenders:

  • Suntan oils
  • human perspiration
  • unfiltered water or ground water
  • pods bark and pollen from trees and shrubs
  • car exhaust
  • salt spray

Never use a pressure washer on your furniture unless you are a pro and use one on a daily basis. You should clean cushions and all weather wicker with a mild detergent and sponge.
